What is On-Site Audit Support in retrofit projects?
On-Site Audit Support involves an independent technical expert visiting the property during or after installation to verify that retrofit measures have been installed correctly and in accordance with the approved design, manufacturer guidance, and PAS 2035 standards. This service helps installers and managing agents pass compliance inspections by identifying and resolving issues before formal audits take place.

On-site audit support is most effective when booked at two stages: mid-installation (so issues can be corrected before completion) and post-installation (to confirm final compliance before TrustMark lodgement and ECO submission). Booking at both stages provides maximum protection against audit failures. StepSoft recommends coordinating audit visits with installation milestones.

During an audit visit, StepSoft’s technical experts check: installation quality and workmanship, adherence to the approved Retrofit Design specification, correct insulation coverage and thickness, junction detailing, ventilation provision, fixings and substrate preparation, photographic evidence collection, and any deviations from the design that need to be formally noted and justified in the project file.
On-Site Audit Support is primarily focused on helping installers and contractors verify their own work and prepare for formal compliance checks. Technical Monitoring is an independent oversight function that is formally part of the PAS 2035 process for higher-risk retrofit projects — it is carried out by an independent technical monitor appointed separately from the installer. StepSoft provides both services.
Yes. StepSoft can provide rapid post-audit remediation support for installers who have received a non-conformance notice or failed a scheme audit. The team reviews the audit findings, identifies the root causes, advises on corrective actions, helps gather additional evidence, and supports resubmission. Early engagement after a failed audit significantly improves the chances of a successful resolution.
